Ring sizing and care

Here are some tips for sizing your fingers for a ring and care for your precious jewellery.

There are a few ways to size your finger to find your ring size. Please keep in mind that your fingers swell with heat and shrink in cold.

Sizes in charts may be seen as letters or numbers or millimeters or inches, all sizes can be converted eg. If you tell me you are a size N this converts to about a 7 or 54mm inside circumference of the ring or 17.19mm diametre, so you see it's no drama how you are sized I can convert the size for you.

1. You can take a current ring that you own and measure the inside diameter (across the ring circle) of the ring. DO NOT include width of the band. this will give you a millimetre measurement which can be converted into a size.

2. take a piece of string and wrap it around your finger that you wish to size, then lay the string flat next to a ruler to find the millimetre measurement. This method can be less accurate due to string moving and wrapping to tightly around finger and doesnt always allow for getting the ring over the knuckle. (not recommended for sizing for tip rings)

3. Go to a jeweller and ask to be sized, this is the most accurate measurement you will get. If you don't want to say hey i'm getting a custom ring made from somebody else but need to know my size say I need to find out my ring size because my partner wants to buy a ring for me but I don't know my size.

Please note I will not be responsible for you sizing your finger wrong please be as accurate as possible. I recommend measuring a few times and be accurate to the millimetre you may think that 2mm will not make a difference but it is alot when it comes to ring sizing it can be 2-3 sizes in difference.
When measuring the diameter of an existing ring make sure you are measuring the inside of the ring only not including the band thickness.

Jewellery care and cleaning advice

Looking after your piece is essential to prolong its life. Caring for your piece is mostly common sense, but here are some tips.

Do not wear it in water of any type but especially in pools and in the ocean as water can become trapped under the gemstone and can also affect the colouring in dyed gemstones, some gemstones do not like being wet it can destroy them. When washing hands take off your rings do not expose them to harsh chemicals.

The silver can be polished with polishing cloths, anti-tarnish cloths. Be careful with chemical cleaning solutions as these can cause damage to gemstones.

Pieces that have been oxidized must not be polished as this will destroy the patina effect, the effect can also be worn off in day to day use and when rubbing with other jewellery. Be gentle with your pieces and the effect will last.
Silver can also tarnish from your skin the amount of acidity in your skin this can dull the silver or blacken the silver; this can be removed by polishing cloths.

Your pieces can be washed with warm soapy water but do not soak pieces use an old toothbrush or other soft brush to get into groves and roping etc, but be gentle.
