What is Violet and Lion?
Violet and lion is an expression of myself Katie McCarthy, via jewellery and herbal teas and whatever else I wish to create at any given time.
I am a self taught artist using mainly silver to create wearable earth and art, creating little houses for crystals of the earth. I think mother nature creates some spectacular specimens that we have the honour of using to create beautiful pieces.
I strive to source ethical gemstones as I have learnt there are many practices of gemstone mining and sourcing of stones that is extremely un-ethical that I do not want to be a part of, this can mean higher prices paid for stones but I would rather support a community of gemstone miners and cutters than cheap unsafe un-ethical mining practices.
I also use recycled sterling silver as the company I buy from creates 100% recycled silver and metal products.
My idea was to connect people to their physical bodies, intentions, goals etc by using jewellery as as simple daily reminder of whatever they need reminding of.
Violet and Lion jewellery is all handmade by myself from my shed. I am located in the stunning beachside town of Ulladulla on the south coast of N.S.W. I first established Violet and Lion in the inland desert town of Kalgoorlie.
I am a big believer in intention and I want my pieces to serve as a reminder to connect with our selves and make your own intentions of what you want in life and what you may need to reflect on and heal.
My herbal tea range has been created using my knowledge of herbs and training in Naturopathy. Each blend has been created for a specific purpose, I can also create custom blends for specific purposes. There is more power in plants than just the constituents they carry within their physical form. I respect plants as an entity and life force of their own. The plants I have chosen for my blends are very intentional and specific in how they interact with each other and our bodies.
